In recent years, Mopar and Ford Performance seem to have had enough of Chevrolet and its crate engine dominance. LS swapped this and LT4. The same goes for racing engines, engines and gearboxes that meet emission standards. In fact, Chevrolet has locked up the crate engine market, but recently, there have not been many headlines. In the past two years or so, magazines and blogs have begun to read about 1,000 horsepower Mopar Hellephant interchanges, Ford Performance 7.3L Godzilla V8, from muscle cars to Jeep and even vans. Today, Chevrolet Performance has released the 1,004-horsepower, 10.4 liter (632 cubic inches) ZZ632 crate engine to remind everyone why they dominate the crate engine field. Did we mention that they are all motors? There is no compulsory induction here, which leads people to believe the old adage: there are no substitutes. Most importantly, it runs with 93 octane pump air. This is the absolute battle axe of the engine.

This additional Big Block V8 reaches peak power at 6,600 rpm and the speed reaches the recommended maximum of 7,000 rpm. We have never heard of such a big engine with such a fast speed. However, if one of you knows one, please let us know so that we can write it down.

The refueling system of ZZ632 consists of eight-port injectors. The engine breathes through a high-flow aluminum cylinder head processed by CNC, with symmetrical ports. There is no direct injection here. In contrast, Hellephant and Godzilla V8 also use port fuel injection systems. They are all iron push rod V8 engines. This is the magic weapon for reliable power.

In addition, although the older Chevrolet Big Block fuel system design differs in the shape of the intake ports of different cylinders, all eight intake ports of ZZ632 have the same length, volume and layout. Similarly, all exhaust ports of ZZ632 are the same. This symmetry ensures that each cylinder produces similar power.

These symmetrical intake port cylinder heads also have a special code name that makes GM performance lovers laugh: RS-X. It is said that these are named after Ron Sperry, a powertrain engineer, and his designing them is one of his final achievements in the performance of General Motors and racing engines for more than 50 years. Sperry's achievements also include the introduction of symmetrical ports for the Small Block V8 engine series in the LS1 engine that Chevrolet Corvette debuted in 1997, and the high power density due to its incredibly compact packaging, low price and weight.

To handle 1,004 horsepower and 876 lb-ft of torque, the Chevrolet Performance ZZ632 crate engine block is made of cast iron and shares the same mold with the almost equally powerful ZZ572 crate engine, but the castings are processed to fit the incredible 632 cubic inches of displacement. Compared with the 572 cubic inch ZZ572 V8, the bore is increased by 0.040 inches, and most of the displacement gain comes from the 0.375 inch longer stroke than the ZZ572. Both the cylinder block and the connecting rod must be modified to accommodate the long stroke, while the four-bolt main cover and forged rotating assembly ensure strength and durability.

To test its durability, an engine has undergone more than 200 simulated drag belt tests on a dynamometer. good. Now, if anyone wants to use the ZZ632 Big Block in a match against Mopar Hellephant V8 and Ford Performance's upcoming Megazilla engine based on Godzilla V8.

You can witness the Chevrolet Performance ZZ632 V8 crate engine at the 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas from November 2nd to 5th. Participating dealers will start deliveries in early 2022. See the outline of the mechanical specifications below.
