Volkswagen's plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra has begun production of the new Tiguan SUV.

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is the third-generation model that has been launched in the global market. This SUV made its debut in March this year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing chip crisis sweeping global automakers, the launch of the 2021 Tiguan SUV has been postponed.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan will be based on the MQB platform, which supports a variety of models provided by the Volkswagen Group's brands. The new generation of Tiguan SUV has undergone many changes, the most notable is that its engine has abandoned diesel and gasoline. It is now powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine. The engine is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard, with a maximum output of 190 horsepower and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The output is closer to the previous TDI diesel engine, which is used to produce 140 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque. Volkswagen will also retain its 4MOTION all-wheel drive system in the new generation of Tiguan.

Volkswagen also redesigned the appearance of the Tiguan and made a number of appearance changes. These include an improved front grille, now with chrome trim, LED matrix headlights and LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned bumper housing triangle fog lights. The design of the alloy wheels has changed, and the character line is now more prominent. The tail is equipped with LED taillights, which are now slimmer.

The interior of the new Tiguan has also changed. Although the automaker still managed to keep it secret, according to the Tiguan facelift of global specifications, the interior changes will be reminiscent of the cabin inside the Tiguan AllSpace SUV. In addition to the digital "virtual cockpit" driver display, the SUV may also be equipped with a larger infotainment system. It may be equipped with more features, such as panoramic sunroof, 30-color ambient lighting, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, and so on.

Volkswagen may also provide driving and safety features, such as cruise control, six airbags, ABS, ESP, gradient control, rear-view camera and driver warning system.

Volkswagen is likely to continue to use the two basic trims previously provided for Tiguan, including Comfortline and Highline. However, in keeping with the trend, Volkswagen may introduce additional trims like it did for Taigun, which may make it more attractive and customizable to certain customers. The price of Volkswagen Tiguan 2021 may be around 2.8 million rupees (ex-showroom). After its launch, the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV will compete with competitors such as Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 and Jeep Guide.
