Introducing 2022 Suzuki DR-Z400SM...

Suzuki 2022 SuperMoto DR-Z400SM is based on the tried and tested DR-Z400S. Therefore, it combines Supermotard style and function in a narrow, light, street-friendly package. This bike brings cross-country spirit and fun to the paved road. It is not uncommon to drive SuperMoto along winding forest roads, narrow canyon corners or commuter traffic.

Its 398cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine can provide strong low-speed torque and clear throttle response in any of these situations. The main difference between DR-Z400SM and DR-Z400S is the inverted front fork, wide-spoke wheels and 300mm diameter floating front brake disc. Inverted forks help reduce unsprung weight and improve overall handling, while large brakes and wider rims and high-grip tires provide an exhilarating exercise bike experience.

The essence of SUPERMOTARD riding DR-Z400SM captures the free and unrestrained street riding fun with cutting-edge dual-purpose bicycle design and stylish and practical top equipment, and welcomes you into the exciting world of SuperMoto riding. Suzuki DR-Z400SM is a legal street bike suitable for serious off-road vehicle enthusiasts. It is not uncommon to take SuperMoto to winding forest trails and narrow corners of canyons. Its 398cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine can provide strong low-speed torque and clear throttle response for any of these occasions. The main difference between DR-Z400SM and DR-Z400S is the inverted fork. Inverted front forks help reduce unsprung weight and improve overall handling. It’s fun to ride on any street, avenue, or highway you go to.

Suzuki's Supermotard model is based on the tried and tested DR-Z400S, combining the style and function of Supermotard in a narrow, light, street-friendly package

Multifunctional and robust, 398cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, dry sump engine with button start function

SuperMoto has a fully adjustable MX-style suspension and high-grip sports bike tires and sturdy spoke wheels with anodized aluminum Excel rims

Compact design Suzuki's SuperMotard model is based on the DR-Z400S-combining Supermotard style and function in a narrow, lightweight street-legal package.

Powerful and controllable power Lightweight, 398cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, dry sump engine can produce powerful and controllable power. The compact four-valve cylinder head has 36mm intake valves, 29mm exhaust valves, a 28-degree narrow valve angle, and a shim adjustment system under the bucket.

The simple electric start is powered by a light starter motor with an automatic mechanical decompression system.

Smooth throttle response The Mikuni™ 36mm carburetor is guided by a 6-liter air tank and uses a deceleration concentrator circuit to help provide smooth throttle response during acceleration or engine braking.

Gearbox The compact five-speed gearbox uses a pull-wire clutch with an independent magnesium alloy shell to simplify clutch maintenance.

Powerful braking performance The front disc brake is equipped with a 300mm large floating rotor and dual-piston calipers, plus a 240mm rear disc brake with a single-piston caliper, providing powerful braking performance.

The SHOWA inverted front fork has a long stroke. The Showa inverted front fork is derived from RM250. It has adjustable compression/rebound damping and a special coating on the inner tube surface for smooth movement.

Rear Shock Absorber A fully adjustable rear shock absorber with a high/low speed compression damping adjuster and a tapered RM-inspired aluminum rocker arm combination for precise rear wheel control.

RENTHAL tapered handlebars Renthal tapered aluminum handlebars are very aggressive in appearance, reduce vibration, and have excellent bending, allowing you to enjoy the fun of riding.

Chrome-molybdenum steel frame The chromium-molybdenum steel frame specially adjusted for Supermotard style riding has torsional strength and extremely light weight. The main pipe, the front down pipe and the steering head gusset constitute the dry sump engine oil tank.

Wide aluminum rims with stainless steel spokes in blue or black anodized RK Excel wide aluminum rims equipped with sports radial tires: front wheel 120/70-R17 and rear wheel 140/70-R17.

Digital instrument cluster The compact digital instrument cluster includes speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter with addition/subtraction function, clock and stopwatch functions.

Lighting Road legal lighting includes bright 60/55 watt halogen headlights, compact taillights/brake lights, lightweight rubber-mounted turn signals and horns.

A small bag on the rear fender for additional functions can hold tool kits, user manuals or other goods.

Engine Features Lightweight, 398cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, dry sump engine can produce strong and easy-to-handle power.

The compact four-valve cylinder head has 36mm intake valves, 29mm exhaust valves, a 28-degree narrow valve angle, and a shim adjustment system under the bucket.

The simple electric start is powered by a light starter motor with an automatic mechanical decompression system.

SCEM coated cylinders (nickel-silicon-phosphorus) are lighter and more durable than iron inner tanks, and have excellent heat transfer performance.

Forged aluminum pistons are 10% lighter than cast pistons and receive additional oil cooling through crankcase fuel injectors.

The Mikuni™ 36mm carburetor is fueled by a 6-liter air tank and includes a deceleration concentrator circuit to help provide smooth throttle response during acceleration or engine braking.

The left body cover has a quick release fastener for easy access to the air filter.

The use of PAIR (air supply) system for exhaust can help motorcycles meet emission standards without affecting performance.

The thermostatically controlled cooling fan installed on the left radiator helps maintain a consistent operating temperature in traffic.

Magnesium alloy clutch, magneto and cylinder head cover help reduce the weight of the bicycle.

Gearbox features The compact five-speed gearbox uses a pull-wire clutch with a separate magnesium housing to simplify clutch maintenance.

The low-maintenance, long-life, sealed O-ring drive chain produces extremely low noise when riding.

Chassis features Wide black anodized RK Excel aluminum rims with stainless steel spokes are equipped with sports radial tires: front wheels 120/70-R17 and rear wheels 140/70-R17.

Powerful braking performance is provided by a front disc brake with a large 300mm floating rotor and dual-piston calipers, and a 240mm rear disc brake with a single-piston caliper.

Long-travel, Showa inverted front fork is derived from RM250, with adjustable compression/rebound damping and special coating on the inner tube surface for smooth movement.

A fully adjustable rear shock absorber with high/low speed compression damping adjuster and a RM-inspired tapered aluminum rocker arm combination for precise rear wheel control.

The Renthal tapered aluminum handlebars are very aggressive in appearance, reduce vibration, and have a large curvature suitable for riding.

The chrome-molybdenum steel frame adjusted for Supermotard-style riding has torsional strength and is extremely lightweight. The main pipe, the front down pipe and the steering head gusset constitute the dry sump engine oil tank.

The bolt-on aluminum subframe helps reduce weight, simplifies maintenance, and helps decorate the appearance of the rear fender.

The front and rear axle sliders and specially designed rotating mirrors help prevent damage when tipping over.

The black or white body is derived from the off-road DR-Z400, with angular graphics that can create an appearance suitable for competition.

A small bag on the rear fender contains tool kits, user manuals or other goods.

Electrical characteristics The compact digital instrument cluster includes speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter with addition/subtraction function, clock and stopwatch functions.

Legal road lighting includes bright 60/55 watt halogen headlights, compact taillights/brake lights, lightweight rubber-mounted turn signals and horns.

The electrical system, including the simple push-button starter, is powered by a compact 6.5 amp maintenance-free battery.
