As early as 2018, Mopar launched the Hellephant, a HEMI 7.0-liter (426 cubic inch) supercharged V8 crate engine that can provide 1,000 horsepower and 1,288 Nm of torque. Not to be outdone, Chevrolet recently announced its new large V8 crate engine with a slight increase in power.

The engine, called ZZ632, is the largest and most powerful engine in the history of General Motors (Chevrolet's parent company), producing 1,004 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 1,188 Nm of peak torque at 5,600 rpm. The latter is not as good as Hellephant, but keep in mind that there is no forced induction—turbocharge or supercharge—at work here.

In contrast, naturally aspirated engines rely only on displacement, many of which have a displacement of 632 cubic inches, which is about 10.4 liters in the metric world. According to the manufacturer, all eight intake and exhaust ports of ZZ632 have the same length, volume, and layout, so each individual cylinder generates similar power-the fuel is processed by eight-port injectors and CNC. The high-flow aluminum cylinder head supplies eight cylinders.

Chevrolet said the ZZ632 shares the same cast iron engine block as the smaller ZZ572 (572 cubic inches or 9.4 liters), but with increased bore and stroke. It is also equipped with a four-bolt main cover, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rod as well as forged aluminum pistons, hydraulic roller rocker arms and a compression ratio of 12.0:1.

The company added that the engine will produce a four-digit output on 93-octane gasoline, so fancy E85 fuel is not needed. Chevrolet also pointed out that the engine will be reliable, because the ZZ632 prototype has conducted 200 simulated rally races on the dyno without any problems. Pricing has not yet been announced, but we have been told that sales will begin in early 2022.

Is there no torque drop like the Campro engine?

With such a high compression ratio, even the Campro kosong can exceed the speed of this snail at 60 km/h.

There is no substitute for displacement. But the United States should make up its mind. The following article talks about the growth of Tesla's electric vehicles, but here, we have the fuel-guzzling North American Spitfire monster, which is a middle finger to all Tesla owners.

The Americans are lucky, there is no JPJ.

If it is not that the engine cannot be changed, the difference in cubic centimeters (CC) is too large. When they themselves do not understand the zero relationship between after-sales modification and the VTA law (applicable only to car manufacturers, not to car owners), they always repeat the VTA law.

You are confused, any car must comply with UNECE regulations, some of which are only related to VTA approval. This is why the crate engine phenomenon is only effective in the United States, because they follow different laws and regulations. If you want to blame someone, blame the UNECE committee for trying to keep idiots like you away from dangerous cars. JPJ is only the enforcer of the law, and the law is clear.

It has nothing to do with luck or JPJ. Americans do not abide by the car standards approved by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe at all.

Koenigsegg can reach 1700bhp with only 2.0. Ah these American engines and their never-ending displacement war.

Do you also realize that Koenigsegg is a million-dollar car? Please think twice before commenting.

If your truck stays in context, we are talking about the engine here instead of the entire vehicle.

You may want to clarify whether it is 93 octane AKI or RON.

The United States uses AKI instead of RON, which is used in Malaysia. AKI averages the values of MON and RON to obtain an explosion resistance figure considering more conditions.

At a compression ratio of 12.0:1, it should be AKI 93 octane number, which should be equivalent to RON 97 or 98.

AKI 93 is similar to RON 97/98
