Chevrolet Performance launched the most impressive V8 to date, ZZ632/1000. The device is specially designed for drag racing and custom projects, and its 10.4 liter displacement can output 1,004 horsepower (1,018 PS / 750 kW).

In the model name, the number 632 represents the volume in cubic inches, and the number 1000 represents the target horsepower rating (rounded up). It is based on a naturally aspirated block mill of 9.4 liters model ZZ572.

The new cylinder housing is cast iron, the crankshaft is forged steel, the piston is aluminum, all valves are the same length, and the injection is electronic and distributed. The device uses ON98 fuel and supports a compression ratio of 12:1.

During OEM testing, it was able to apply 1,018 metric horsepower at 6,600 RPM and 1,188 Nm (876 lb-ft) of torque at 5,600 RPM. The company has rated its resources for at least 200 towed launches.

As a crate engine, ZZ632/1000 is packed in a box as a pre-assembled unit for DIY projects. It is illegal to take to the streets and will not be used in production cars bearing the Chevrolet logo. Pricing is still to be announced, but the aforementioned ZZ572 model is priced at $16,300.
