At this year's Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm launched its latest flagship mobile platform-the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. This new flagship chip is based on the Snapdragon 888+ 5G technology and provides a series of upgrades, including improvements in connectivity, camera, artificial intelligence, etc.

The debut is Qualcomm's first 18-bit ISP, namely Snapdragon Sight. This new development unlocks more powerful camera functions and features, and aims to bridge the gap between smartphones and professional cameras.

Snapdragon Sight provides extremely high dynamic range, color and clarity, with speeds of up to 3.2 gigapixels per second. As a triple ISP, the camera can be used to take photos or videos at the same time.

Another initiative of this chip includes support for mobile 8K HDR video capture. It also supports more than one billion shades.

For low-light situations, Qualcomm asks the device to take 30 images, and its internal software will analyze and merge the best parts of each image to create a better overall photo with shape details and bright colors.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the company's most advanced 5G platform, with the first 3GPP version 16 5G solution. The 4th generation Snapdragon X65 5G modem-RF system improves download speeds. This system claims to be the world's first 10 Gb 5G modern RF solution. Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 maximizes network speed, providing speeds of up to 3.5Gbps via Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.

In order to improve the sound, Qualcomm equipped the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with Snapdragon Sound technology, which now uses Qualcomm aptX lossless technology to provide CD-quality wireless audio.

In terms of artificial intelligence, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has some new developments, including the faster artificial intelligence engine that the company once injected into the processor.

This time the speed has increased four times, and the onboard AI can use Hugging Face's natural language processing for analysis, intelligent grouping, and prioritization. AI also helps to reproduce better-looking bokeh and colors in photos using the integrated Leica Leitz Looks filter.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform places great emphasis on using artificial intelligence to improve the audio experience. To this end, it supports Bluetooth lossless audio and low-latency gaming, allowing you to enjoy an immersive gaming experience with no delay between the phone and the earbuds.

Using artificial intelligence, the platform can also implement some advanced audio "techniques." For example, using noise suppression, the platform can block background noise in recordings. In terms of imaging, the platform can capture 4K video, and the AI ​​on the device can automatically classify your content. Real-time action recognition helps to identify action highlights; tags are automatically generated, for example, automatic slow motion can be applied when appropriate.

We also looked at the reference design device built on the platform, which provides a 140-degree undistorted field of view with a resolution of 16MP. In contrast, most devices on the market provide a 125-degree field of view, but will produce distortion. 

In addition, the 7th generation Qualcomm artificial intelligence engine and the always-on 3rd generation Qualcomm Sensing Center and Hexagon processor provide a tensor accelerator that is twice the speed and memory size of its predecessors.

In the game, there are also improvements and enhancements. Now it provides support for volumetric rendering to add realism and depth to the game environment. Support for Unreal Engine 5 also means better overall effects and sequences in the game for a more complete and immersive experience. It also provides complete Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.

In order to provide "desktop-level" features, Qualcomm Adreno GPU is installed to provide 30% more power and 25% efficiency than its predecessors.
