Steel Will’s latest knife update, JJJJound is about to collaborate with Danner and independent watchmaker Josh Shapiro’s unique tantalum watch.

We at Today In Gear talk about electric cars in one way or another, and for good reason: people want to buy them. According to a recent Automotive News interview with Ford CEO Jim Farley, "The demand is two to three times what we expected...We are now booking close to 200,000 vehicles, and we are transferring these bookings to actual orders. ." Not only does this mean that there will be more electric trucks on the road—including Ford E-Transit and F-150 Lightning—it means innovation. Reports surrounding Ford’s Blue Oval City campus in Tennessee indicate that Ford plans to launch a new truck on a new platform. Although the timetable for the truck in question is more leaning towards 2025, as Farley said, Ford has plans to sell the model with "incredibly high sales." More investment is expected in Ford's "large factories" like Blue Oval City, where vehicles and batteries are produced in one place. Leaving aside electric cars, we are talking about everything from Steel Will’s latest cutter to JJJJound’s upcoming collaboration with Danner and independent watchmaker Josh Shapiro’s unique tantalum watch. This is today's gear.

The On's parka is designed to meet any challenge of nature. It is a fully adjustable jacket that is extremely versatile. The overall silhouette is knee-length, can block any sporadic snow or rain, and cut into a more relaxed shape. This allows the jacket to promote airflow and feel breathable-while still being completely windproof and waterproof (due to its three-layer structure and DWR coating).

As a symbol of British retail, Harrods, a luxury department store, is a center of international shopping—especially during the holiday season. Unexpectedly, Harrods collaborated with streetwear brand Palace to launch a gift basket that combines the retailer’s luxury heritage with Palace’s iconic humor. The gift baskets are based on Harrods holiday gift baskets, including co-branded chocolates, tea, coffee, socks, and even Palace brand wines. On December 10th, a series of other clothing items will be released with the holiday shopping basket.

Watchmaker Josh Shapiro, a high school teacher, turned his hobby into a full-scale project to promote engine-rotating watches through the 2019 Infinity series. Proudly made in the United States, Shapiro's newest Infinity is unique because of its use of tantalum, a metal that is difficult to machine. As Shapiro explained, the tantalum case was the first (outside of Switzerland) and the first in the world to be used in parts of watches other than the case. Due to Shapiro's scale of operations and the materials involved, only 26 watches were produced.

Re-examining the partnership that began in 2020, the well-known "taste master" JJJJound once again collaborated with Danner to launch a pair of Feather Light and Mountain Light boots. Both boots are made in Portland, with Gore-Tex lining and Vibram 1276 Sierra outsole. Feather Light uses a brown suede upper with green accents, while Mountain Light uses a one-piece brown suede upper. No matter which style you like, both styles will be on sale on December 9.

Thanks to the Fjord blade released earlier this year, Steel Will has established itself in 2021 and added a brand-new Spica model as winter approaches. The use of 3.4-inch flat-edge drop blades and the use of 154CM for flippers strengthen the model's position in the market; this is an everyday blade that crosses the economy and luxury. Both the 154CM steel and aluminum handles highlight the uniqueness of this blade and incorporate materials not commonly found in Steel Will knives.
